This short article is provided to help our clients understand some of the different ways you can specify geography in our count system, and the flexibility that provides you.
Recently, a client was sending us long lists of zip codes for counts. After some discussion with the client, it turned out that what they were doing was generating their geography list by compiling a list of all zips within a given radius, then sending it to us. This resulted in extra work for both them and for us, since we had to take their list, format it correctly, and then upload it to the system.
What we suggested is that they simply tell us the starting zip code and desired radius, and we put that in directly, saving time and extra work on both ends. Win-win!That got us thinking that perhaps some of our clients may not know that we offer a number of different ways to specify the geography for your counts.
We have the capability to specify geography for you in a number of ways, and we don’t charge for it!
Some of the ways we can specify geography for your counts include:
- Specific zip code(s)
- Zip code radius (specify the starting zip code and the desired radius)
- State
- County
- City
- SCF
- Multiple zip-radius counts – These are counts where we separate distinct geographies by a “designator”. For example, we can run a count specifying multiple zips/radii of multiple dealers or agents, so that you can provide counts to many dealers at the same time, all with the same suppressions, same vehicle criteria, and without having to deal with potentially hundreds of counts at once.
There are many other things we can do. The best way to find out more is to contact us and ask if we have the capability to do whatever you need. We do all our own programming in-house, so if we don’t have what you need, we may be able to do it for you, usually at no charge.
